For the first time ever, Enhance a Colour is offering sixteen foot wide dye sublimated printing to create a theater, opera, or concert backdrop to use for your performances. These are the only sixteen foot wide dye sublimation units available in the United States. Enhance a Colour has spent years perfecting the process they use to create an incredibly rich looking, colorful backdrop. The color gamut that is used with dye sublimation is greater than solvent printing to fabric so the designs are vivid and rich. When some colors are used in solvent printing are early impossible to detect, they may be rich when created with dye sublimation.
There are many benefits of the dye sublimated backdrop process as opposed to the solvent or screen printing methods used by other printers. With solvent or silkscreen printing, ink sits on the surface of the fabric and result in muddy or muted colors. Sometimes, there are also cracks in the ink. The ink is heavy and when the backdrop is folded, the ink will scratch. With the dye sublimation technique, ink is run through a heat calendar at 400 degrees F so that the ink converts to a gas, making it a part of the fabric!
The backdrop that is created with the dye sublimation technique can be washed, steam cleaned or ironed. Coated fabrics aren’t required, giving you the choice of Muslin Trevira or one of the other fabrics offered by Enhance a Colour. However, Muslin Trevira allows you to add unique painting techniques to the printed fabric while the other choices don’t. While gold and silver can only be simulated in four-color process printing but you can also add your own personal touch to the backdrop.
Another benefit to using a fabric theater backdrop from Enhance a Colour is that the process has caused the turn around time for many projects to be compressed into a couple of weeks as opposed to spending months. You will discover that the cost savings of printing with the dye sublimation technique will be significant in comparison to creating a backdrop from hand painting. You will save both time and money!
