NY Historical Society Childrens Museum Carpet

The New York Historical Society, located on the corner of Central Park West and 77th Street, has re-opened after a 3 year renovation. New York’s oldest museum has gotten a facelift that transformed the bank-like structure to be more inviting and bright with new windows and entrances that let light into the building. The renovation included new exhibits in the museum as well as the brand new DiMenna Children’s History Museum downstairs. The focus of the museum is to teach New York’s history through the eyes of the children who lived there through the centuries.

Lee H. Skolnick Architecture and Design Partnership, the lead designer on the DiMenna Children’s History Museum, has designed nearly 60 children’s museums around the country. Lee H. Skolnick worked with Enhance a Colour to produce the carpet to be installed throughout the Children’s Museum.

What makes this project especially interesting is the subject matter for the carpet. A map of all five boroughs of New York City are represented, complete with parks, rivers and streets. The carpet covers the entire children’s floor of the museum and is fun for city residents visiting to find where they live.

Enhance a Colour produced the carpeting by dye-sublimation printing to padded carpet material. The carpet was made up of 64 4 foot by 8 foot panels. Our installation crew installed the carpet panels throughout the space. In addition to the city themed carpet, a library section was also carpeted with 16 4 foot by 8 foot solid green panels to the floor and benches.

Planning – Banner Printing – Street Side Installation

Kevin O’Connor, one of the owner’s of Enhance a Colour, reached out to the medical center’s leadership team looking for ways to help them reach their goals.

Kevin, along with John Fischer, who leads Enhance a Colour’s creative services team, assisted the hospital’s staff in planning the project and obtaining local permits.  Once the outdoor banner design was approved, and the light pole banner, telephone pole banner, and street pole banner hardware selected, several outdoor banners were printed, and finished with reinforced pole pockets.

When it came time for the installation of the outdoor banners, Enhance a Colour’s installation team braved inclement weather to insure the pilot site was ready for client’s review.  After a conceptual review, and subsequent revisions and approvals, additional banners were created in single and double banners variations in two sizes and installed at the remaining locations.

Today, forty-nine pole banners hang along the streets at the three New York City campus locations and the Montefiore Medical Park location.  Each outdoor banner specifies a phrase of the Montefiore Medical Center’s mission, along with a corresponding full color graphic.

Can Your Business Benefit From Pole Banners?

Light pole banners, telephone pole banners, and street pole banners are most effective in locations where there are a series of existing poles at the location to work with, and you can create a series of outdoor banners to convey your message.  Considering traffic patterns and local ordinances is also important when planning your campaign.  Enhance a Colour can provide a complete turnkey solution including planning site locations, designing artwork, obtaining permits and approvals, printing banners, and installing banners at street side locations.
