The New Age of ADA Signage… Not the Old School Signage You’re Used To
Although the majority of Federal Standards and Regulations have remained the same over the years, one thing is for certain, it’s a new age of design and style in the creation of ADA compliant signage. The utilitarian, black and white signs of yesteryear have been replaced by a variety of substrates, colors and branding options. Working with the most recent technology, EAC is able to remain compliant to the ADA standards while offering our customers the best design options.
Some of the most basic standards for ADA signage are tactile letter depth, letter height and letter style (font) which can only be Sans Serif in all uppercase letters. All characters and background need to have a matte, egg shell, non-glare finish with contrasting colors between characters and background colors.
With all of these conditions met, customers have the freedom to choose what they want as the end result. When branding environmental spaces, customers want the signs to be aesthetically pleasing as well as functional. With new technology and the use of UV inks, we can produce an endless array of colorful designs and images to transform your space into an amazing branding opportunity.
Is your business ADA Compliant?
According to Unum, a provider of group disability benefits, “in 2017, there were 28,868 disability discrimination charges filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). In that same year, the EEOC recovered more than $135.2 million from charges brought by those claiming disability discrimination. This figure does not include monetary benefits obtained through litigation.“
Don’t delay in making sure your business environment is ADA compliant. Business owners can make some very small, one time enhancements to avoid paying massive amounts of money in fines, or worse yet, lawsuits.
